Client Overview
Client is one of the undergraduate and graduate colleges in Canada, which is responsible for information management regarding students, teachers and courses, etc.

Project Overview
The initial purpose of this project is to solve a carry-over problem.  The graduate and undergraduate educational information are separately stored, which causes inconvenience to get an overall picture of the whole university's educational information.  Utilizing a warehouse system to integrate the separately stored information is able to solve this problem basically.  Considering the integration with the future operating, an educational information system is built upon to have an integrated, easy-use application for managing the university's information in education.

Solution from UFIDA Software Engineering
This project is designed to be a web-based application to facilitate the access and operation. Two data-sources are both from Oracle, but with different schema. Actions happened in source data will be reflected to data warehouse tables to ensure the data consistency and integration, and also ensure the independency of two schools’ management. The primary modules include:

- Undergraduate School Management: to create, edit or delete undergraduate school information.
- Graduate School Management: to create, edit or delete graduate school information.
- Data Migration: to migrate information from the old database schema to the new database schema.
- Data Integration: to integrate undergraduate and graduate information into data warehouse.
- Query and OLAP: to provide the general query based on database and OLAP on warehouse.
- Report: to generate customized report that shows in both spreadsheet and graph style.

Database: Oracle 10g
Web Server: Apache Tomcat 5
Techniques and Tools: Java Server Pages, HTML, Applets, CSS, JavaScript, PL / SQL, Crystal Report

The project is implemented and done by three engineers in two months. 

Benefits
Client is very satisfied with the final delivery because this has expanded their expectation.  In addition to get a warehouse system to manage their historical record, an integrated educational information system is being provided, which remains the independency for undergraduate and graduate school, and offers overall image for the university as a whole.
